How to Weather A Long Interview Process

I have mentioned that hiring and interviewing pick up during the Holiday Season. You should be doing a full court press to get your resume out there and make as many contacts as possible. Even though interviews take place, the inevitable disruption in the process occurs between late November and Christmas. And while this is inconvenient for many ( including for the hiring manager), it is a fact of life. Unfortunately this disruption and any disruption leading to a lengthy interview process can kill any momentum that has been established. I’ll tell you what really galls me. It is Recruiters who tell entry level candidates that the best way to get into medical sales is by starting in the Pharmaceutical industry. They will paint a rosy picture of doctor’s offices, clinical benefits,physician interaction, disease states, etc. And they know better. It galls me.

It goes without saying that sending a post interview thank you note is not only proper and professional, it is also crucial. Failing to do so can and will result in a candidate not moving forward in the process. It shows a genuine lack of interest in the position, and a lack of respect for the hiring authority.
