Spicing Up Your Resume

There are a great many good resume services out there.  Some perform an excellent service to their clients, and are well-meaning, well-run businesses.  If you are on the market for a resume revision, I would encourage you to check out a few to determine the best value for you. It is also my opinion that many resume writers are posing as graphic artists who feel that a pretty, artsy resume is going to get you in the door.  This is where you may want to seriously consider going in a different direction.

Medical Managers do not want to look at fancy colors, they do not care about an e-mail or telephone icon, they absolutely hate graphs and charts, and do not want to read a jumble of words. Medical managers want to see where you have worked, how long you have worked there, your primary responsibilities, and WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED!  Nothing else matters.  And all the colors, fonts, icons, etc are not going to persuade a manager to see you if you cannot list significant accomplishments.  And if a resume service cannot draw out of you some meaningful, quantifiable, ( if possible), and relevant accomplishments that will attract the attention of the VP, I would encourage you to invest your money elsewhere.
